The Company
Early Years Entertainment’s management team has a combined wealth of over 50 years experience in entertainment publishing and technology. Combined backgrounds in toys, computer and video games, internet development, new media publishing, interactive DVD authoring, licensing, consumer marketing and senior level corporate business management, provide EYE with a substantial knowledge-platform from which to launch and from which to develop the business in the new and rapidly growing interactive DVD sector of the multi-million pound children’s entertainment market.
What we do
The Original Concept
The idea of marrying entertaining visual content with engaging interactivity was born from a combination of frustration, experience and creativity. EYE’s founder, and Managing Director, wanted to provide his then 4 year old son with something more than a ‘sit and watch’ experience. Something that could be viewed and enjoyed together, but something that his son could also be left to enjoy on his own and would benefit from. With knowledge of advanced developments in DVD technology, an element of creativity, and the enthusiasm of potentially being able to combine entertainment and stimulation, EYE’s founder was able to develop the first truly interactive children’s story book adventure and children’s educational product franchise – Wigglebottom Farm.
How we do it
Content and Technology
WF on interactive DVD sets out to engage children with classic narrated storybook-style adventures. Exciting, and often amusing, adventures combine with interactive tasks for children to complete. The tasks, which are relevant to the story, are completed on a one-to-one level with the child inputting information using either a new and simple-to-use dedicated EYE-mote children’s DVD remote control, or a standard DVD remote.
DVD-Extra™
DVD-EXTRA™ is a totally new, patent protected DVD development technology created by ZOOtech Ltd. DVD-EXTRA gives developers and publishers of DVD titles something that has been out of their reach for years. It gives them the ability to create sophisticated CD-ROM style interactivity in the DVD-Video format. With DVD-EXTRA, the humble DVD player is transformed from a passive playback device into an interactive multimedia platform. DVD-EXTRA is a method of creating interactive DVD titles. It's not a new format.
The Interactive DVD Opportunity
EYE is one of the first companies to create dedicated interactive children’s entertainment content on DVD which specifically ‘opens up’ the as-yet fully untapped use of the DVD player by children in the home. Simplistic games have been ‘added’ to movie DVDs but EYE believe WF is one of the first children’s applications written primarily for interactive DVD.
