How do we collect information?
Use of Cookies
Whenever you visit http://www.wigglebottomfarm.co.uk or http://www.eyelimited.com , the pages you see, along with something called a "cookie", are downloaded to your computer. Most, if not all, web sites do this because cookies allow the web site publisher to do useful things like find out whether the computer (and probably its user) has visited the site before. This is done on a repeat visit by checking to see, and finding, the cookie left there on the last visit.
Any information that is supplied by cookies can help us to provide you with a better service and assists us to analyse the profile of visitors to our websites.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is small piece of information stored on your computer. None of our cookies contain any personal identifying information, but they do enable us to provide features such as personalisation. Most internet browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually change your browser so it will not accept them.
Cookies in themselves do not identify the individual user; they only identify the computer used. Users have the opportunity to set their computers to accept all cookies, to notify them when a cookie is issued, or not to receive cookies at any time. If you set the browser to not accepting cookies, it will result in certain personalised services not being provided to the users on that computer.
Information actively provided by our Users
If you supply any personal information to us we have a legal obligation to you in the way we deal with that information. We must collect the information fairly (details on why we require information will be requested on the actual web pages); we must let you know how we will use it; and we must tell you in advance if we decide to pass the information on to anyone else, although we will not do this. We will hold your personal information on our systems for as long as you use the service you have requested, and remove it in the event that the purpose has been met, or, in the case of a personalised service when you no longer wish to continue your registration as a personalised user or a soon as you request to have your information deleted. We will ensure that all personal information supplied is held securely, in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
For example:
- Competitions: We may occasionally offers online competitions. To participate, you or your child is asked to provide his or her name and email address and if the child is under 13, a parental email address is required. All the information given is securely maintained and used only for the purposes of conducting the competition. Once the competition is finished, the personal information collected is deleted UNLESS the user has opted to receive more information from us and in the case of users under 13, parental consent has been obtained.
- Consumer Services: We provide consumers with the opportunity to email us with their queries or comments. We have an online ‘contact us’ form available here (here=link to form) for that purpose. The information that is collected allows us to identify, at a glance, the nature of the query. The information is strictly for internal use only UNLESS the user has opted to receive more information from us and in the case of users under 13, parental consent has been obtained.
- E-mail Newsletter: If you are over the age of 13, some of our pages may offer you the option of registering to receive email newsletters or updates in the future by providing your email address. By visiting our websites you are able to UNSUBSCRIBE from this service at any time.
