Penny's Birthday Party is the first in the Wigglebottom Farm series of truly interactive DVD storybooks aimed at children, and the parents of children, aged between 3 & 6.
It is a charming story about little Penny Pig. Today is her birthday but she is not feeling very happy because she is not having a party. Some of her friends on the farm hear of her sadness and decide to do something about it. That, after all, is what friends do! Five of her friends get together and decide what they can do. Jack Fox is put in charge of the cake, Lil Mouse is sent to get the party food, Sally Spider needs to find a tablecloth, Bernard Owl has a picnic set stored away somewhere, Harper Frog is told to get some party balloons, and finally Penny needs to get out of her pen as the party is going to be held in the top meadow.
Each character sets off on their own little adventure and along the way needs the help of the viewer to complete their task. Once all the characters have done their bit to help everyone gathers in the top meadow to enjoy a wonderful party for Penny.
There are six interactive elements to the DVD which deal with words, numbers, shapes, puzzles, matching and colours. The interactive elements can be completed by a child or are just as enjoyable with the help of a parent. These elements are cleverly woven into the storyline so they need to be completed in order for the story to unfold.
The interactive elements of the DVD are random so different questions are delivered each time the DVD is played. Children will want to return to it again and again, each time they are having their early learning skills re-enforced and underpinned. All this in the comfort of your living room.
